What are the signs of labor?
At 38-40 weeks of pregnancy, as a rule, normal pregnancy ends in childbirth. How to understand in time that the process will start soon? After all, it is important not to miss the moment and come to the maternity hospital in a timely manner, unless, of course, you are planning to give birth at home.
If you have another childbirth, then, most likely, they will occur at 38-39 weeks, and primipara will feel the approach of birth for a week or two later. But for your own peace of mind, from 37-38 weeks, you can already keep the assembled documents and things necessary for admission to the hospital (for yourself and for your baby) at home.
Signs before childbirth
Before birth, the body will give some signals by which you can calculate the upcoming birth. For example, these signs can be as follows:
- lowering the abdomen;
- increased lower back pain;
- frequent urination;
- the urge to defecate;
- discharge of mucus plug;
- contractions (remember that true contractions are regular, i.e.occur at approximately equal intervals of time, which are gradually reduced. False ones are irregular and, as a rule, they are painless).
Do not worry when contractions come, you will immediately understand this, since such a process cannot be confused with anything. Just in case, discuss your actions at the onset of labor and their first signs with your doctor again. Do not rush immediately to the hospital if your state of health has not deteriorated. At home, it is definitely easier to carry rare contractions than in an empty delivery room alone. In any case, if you notice the onset of bleeding, urgently seek medical help. Also, do not hesitate if the frequency of contractions is one contraction in five to seven minutes lasting about a minute. Feel free to collect things, if you have not yet collected, and go to the maternity hospital - on your own or by ambulance.
